I got this error when I process xisnxbgen as follows.

this is my input for xisnxbgen:
xisnxbgen clobber=yes $l.nxb $l.pi SKYREG xis.reg ../../auxil/$n.orb ../../auxil/$n.att

I don't think it is GTI's problem because I got the same error even when I use spectrum without GTI filtering. Moreover, I have followed the same procedure to reduce many Suzaku data. This error never happened before.
Please let me know if you need other information.

  • Suggestion (2012-08-02)
    xisnxbgen reads background database from the CALDB and uses time period according to the parameters, time_min and time_max. See below in detail.

    The error message indicates a lack of time period in the database.
    Therefore you can:

    (1) check your CALDB setup, whether if the following latest file can be read.
    /caldb/data/suzaku/xis/bcf/ae_xis_nxborbit_20120601.fits
    You can find the latest CALDB for Suzaku below
    http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/heasarc/caldb/suzaku/

    (2) Or you may change time period to that before the source observation,
    like time_min=-300 time_max=-100
    . Defaults are time_min = -150 and time_max = +150.


    Note that the XIS NXB changes time by time and therefore changing the above parameters can introduce some uncertainties on the estimated NXB spectra.
  • Suggestion (2012-08-) if you cannot access CALDB, you can specify the file with parameters.
