Question (質問)

I have a question regarding a time offset between the XISs and PIN. We are aware of the time assignment issues mention here: http://heasarc.nasa.gov/docs/suzaku/analysis/xis_time.html We understand that this is a problem present only in version 1x reprocessed data and is corrected for in v 2x. However, while analysing a recent observation of GX 1+4 (2010-10-02, ObsID 405077010), we found a shift in the XIS and PIN pulse profiles of around 140 s. So probably the correction has not worked properly in this dataset. Looking up at the log of observations of Suzaku in
http://www.astro.isas.jaxa.jp/suzaku/log/operation/
we found the following details :
-2010-10-02 (MAXI J1659-152, GX1+4)
A part of DR data was not down-linked and lost

Is it possible for you to suggest how we can get the proper time assignment?

Answer (答え)

Let me clarify our concern implied in my previous email.

Current pulse period of GX 1+4 is about 160 s.

In addition, the pulse profile is moderately energy-dependent.

Therefore, if you wrongly make a pulse profile by one pulse cycle in XIS or PIN, you may get a ~140 s difference. So, please check your analysis again.
