Question (質問)

In Kubota et al. 2007, it is clearly mentioned that "the current uncertainties in the instrument response at the gold M-II edge by another Gaussian at 3.2 keV". Is there any progress on this? If not, should we add Gaussian at 3.2 keV to the model when analyzing relatively bright sources?

Answer (答え)

(1) From the XRT team: We suppose that the residual around 3.2 keV (Au-M edge) energy is due to the optical constant of the XRT. We estimate the error to be about a few % level. At this moment, we have no plan to update the XRT response to fix this residual.
(2) From the XIS team: We suppose that there is no reason for any structures in the XIS response around this energy band.
(3) Please determine how to model this residual depending on your data quality, purpose of the fits, and other circumstances.
