In a GSFC's web page (Cosmic X-ray Background in HXD/PIN Data; http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/suzaku/analysis/pin_cxb.html), it is remarked that the HXD/PIN flat response "assume that the uniform emission is from the region of 2 deg x 2 deg". The purpose of this question is to find general information of the flat response which can be a reference for foreign (non Japanese) researchers. I guess such information can be described in a document like Suzaku CALDB Description (http://www.astro.isas.ac.jp/suzaku/caldb/doc/suzaku_caldb_v1.7_small.pdf). Answer from(回答の文責)Y.Terada (HXD team and Suzaku Helpdesk)Answer (答え)PIN Flat Response files, such as ae_hxd_pinflate1_20080129.rsp which is contained in Suzaku CALDB release, are calculated for an assumed 2deg x 2deg emission region with uniform surface brightness. The size of the assumed flat emission is mentioned in "Cosmic X-ray Background in HXD/PIN Data", and this web page can be a reference for your co-author. We will contact the HXD-team so that they can discuss whether the information of size should be written in the header of the response files or declared elsewhere.
