Question (質問)

This is a question for the XIS Team: I was reading over section 7.11 of the Suzaku Technical Description (Nov. 2007 version), and looking at the figures showing the time history of the 55Fe calibration source energy and FWHM for XIS0 and XIS1. Are there similar figures available for XIS-3 (for non-CI data) somewhere on the web? Or, is one allowed to assume that the behavior of XIS-3 is identical to that for XIS-0, even through the spring of 2007? (our group is currently working with non-CI data obtained in the spring of 2007, and we are currently fitting the 55Fe calibration source data for each XIS individually)

Answer (答え)

Please check this PDF file.
  • The figure you checked on the Suzaku technical description was based on an old calibration value of the XIS gain. Please note that the ae_xis_makepi.fits files in CALDB area, which are used on the XIS tool "xispi," have been updated on Feb 2008.
  • You can find the trend plot of the center energies and resolutions of the calibration source on Segment A and D of the CCDs. The XIS team also made the same plots with the old CALDB files.
  • Your data taken on April 2007 is the last observation of SCI-off, thus systematic errors on the gain and resolution may be larger than other SCI-off datasets.
