Question (質問)

Dear sir/madam,

I retrieved the HXD-GSO background file ae401092010_hxd_gsobgd.evt.gz and I extracted the bkg spectrum following the "seven steps for HXD analysis". I could't group the bkg spectrum as indicated in the 'HXD Background files' page* because it has 256 channels instead of 512, as the source files and the rmf matrix. Is it normal that the bkg spectrum has 256 channels? Please, let me know if I am doing something wrong and how to proceed.
Best regards,
Paolo Pastorcich Esposito.

Answer (答え)

The problem is due to that the column name for PHA is not properly recognized by xselect. So in the xselect session, after you read in the event file, please specify the column name explicitly by executing a command "set phaname PI_SLOW" , and then extract the spectrum.
