There are two versions of responce files: for XIS nominal pointing and for HXD nominal pointing. How can I figure out which one is suitable for our observaitons? If your source is located at the center of the XIS field of view, your observation was done in the XIS nominal pointing. Or if the source is 3'.5 off of the center, your data was taken in the HXD nominal pointing.You may also ask the PI of the observation since the pointing option is usually specified by him/her.
