Question (質問)

1. are the arf files distributed within "Current CalDB Release" suitable for the scientific analysis?

2. what is the difference between e.g
ae_xi0_xisnom2_20060615.arf
ae_xi0_xisnom4_20060615.arf
ae_xi0_xisnom6_20060615.arf

How do I know whether *nom2* , or *nom4*, or *nom6* is suitable for my data analysis?

3. Our data were re-processed with 'Hea_11Sep2006_V6.1.1_Suzaku_11Sep2006_V1.2'
Can the files found in the "even_cl" directory be used for the scientific analysis without further screening?

Answer (答え)

1. You can use them for your scientific analysis, however there are some limitations associated in the data processing. So please refer to this web page for information.

2. Below is an explanation of the naming convention: The nominal arfs for xis and hxd nominal positions have the keywords of "xisnom" and "hxdnom" in their file names. Integration radius are assumed for 6, 4, 2 mm for xisnom6, 4, 2, or hxdnom6, 4, 2, respectively.

Since 1 CCD pixel has a length scale of 24 micron, corresponding to 2.895e-4 deg, *nom6* (6 mm) is then for the extraction radius of 250 pixels ~ 4.3 arcmin.

3. Cleaned events in the "event_cl" directory have gone through the standard cuts (grades, SAA) and they are in principle directly useful for analysis. However, users are recommended to extract light curves and check for background rates.
