The question is on gti files in XSELECT. When I used very long GTI file (text gti, 58722 lows for example), the command "bin all" could not be used properly. What causes this phenomena ?

I wasn't expecting anyone to have that many GTIs. There is a limit of 40960 GTIs in the program extractor which xselect runs in the "bin all" command. If you have the source distribution of HEAsoft it is easy to increase the allowed number of GTIs. Go to the directory
headas/ftools/heasarc/src/extractor
and edit the file expar.inc. Change the settings for MAXGTI and MAXGTIS to a larger number. Then do an hmake followed by an hmake install in that same directory.
I'll increase the limit for the next release of HEAsoft.
